The best advice graduating students give to new students is:

• Take advantage of all the opportunities that are offered during your stay. That means, speak English and listen to English as often as possible.
• Listen to the radio, watch television (not close-captioned), listen to people talking on the bus or subway.
• The time goes by very fast and it would be a shame to wake up one morning towards the end of your stay only to realize you should have gone to more activities, should have paid closer attention to your teacher, should have made friends with students who speak a different first language etc etc.
